In recent years, some users of special transformers have installed high-voltage measuring boxes, and the general measuring boxes are installed above the fuse cutout. In the actual operation on site, the arrester is installed on the upper side of the high-voltage metering box, that is, the user who installs the high-voltage metering box should install a set of isolation switches.

The installation of an isolating switch solves the problem caused by the installation of the arrester on the upper side of the fuse cutout. When the lightning arrester of a transformer fails or needs to be repaired, just power off the single transformer. At the same time, when single-phase grounding or phase-to-phase short circuit occurs, the fault finding and processing time can be reduced.

According to this, the actual installation position of the arrester should be determined according to the electrical equipment installed on site. Urban transformers are generally equipped with isolation switches and surge arresters for high-voltage measuring boxes, so it is better to install them on the upper side of the fuse cutout. The isolation transformer is not installed in the suburban transformer. It is better to install the arrester on the falling side.
