The threat posed by lightning overvoltage was much greater than the internal overvoltage in the system. The initial function of the arrester is to limit the lightning overvoltage. With the development of the power industry, the voltage levels are getting higher and higher, ultra-high voltage and ultra-high voltage systems are appearing one after another, the amplitude of the operating overvoltage is also getting higher and higher, and its duration is longer than the lightning overvoltage, which gives safe operation of electrical equipment bringing a serious threat. Therefore, you must use a lightning arrester to limit the internal overvoltage.
