what’s the difference between transfer switch and load center?

In the power system, distribution boxes and transfer switches are commonly used auxiliary power facilities, so what is the difference between transfer switches and distribution boxes?

When the circuit is out of power for some reason, the transfer switch can switch the circuit power supply to another power supply by switching the position of the knife. General transfer switches are widely used in high-rise buildings, communities, hospitals, airports, docks, fire fighting, metallurgy, chemical, textiles and other important places where power outages are not allowed.

The function of the distribution box is to reasonably distribute electrical energy and facilitate the opening and closing of the circuit. The distribution box has a high level of safety protection and can visually display the conduction state of the circuit.

Operating procedures for transfer switches:

1. When the line is out of power for some reason and the power supply cannot be restored in a short period of time, the standby power supply must be activated.

1.1 Cut off the circuit breakers of the mains power supply (including the circuit breakers of the control cabinet in the power distribution room, and the city power supply circuit breaker of the dual power switch box), pull the double-throw anti-reverse switch to the side of the self-provided power source, and keep the dual power switch box The self-provided power supply circuit breaker is off.

1.2 Start the backup power supply (diesel generator set). When the standby group is operating normally, close the generator air switch and the circuit breakers in the self-provided power supply control cabinet in sequence.

1.3 Close each backup power circuit breaker in the power switching box one by one to send power to each load.

1.4 During the operation of the standby power supply, the personnel on duty shall not leave the generator set, and adjust the voltage and plant frequency in time according to the change of the load, and deal with the abnormality in time.

2. When the mains power supply is restored, the power conversion should be done in time, the standby power supply should be cut off, and the mains power supply should be restored.

2.1 Disconnect the circuit breakers of the self-provided power supply one by one in order, the order is: safety switch self-provided power circuit breaker → self-provided power distribution cabinet circuit breaker → generator main switch → set the safety switch knife to the mains power supply 1. side.

2.2 Shut down according to the diesel engine shutdown steps.

2.3 In order, close the circuit breakers one by one from the main switch of the mains power supply to the branch switches, and set the safety switch knife position from the mains power supply circuit breaker to the closed position.
