What’s the difference between circuit breaker and air switch

1. Difference of voltage level: generally, the voltage level of air switch is below 500V, while circuit breaker can be applied to all voltage levels above 220V

2. The ability of breaking current is different: the general circuit breaker can bear more load and short circuit current

3. Difference of arc extinguishing medium and mode: the arc extinguishing medium and mode of circuit breaker include not only air circuit breaker, but also vacuum circuit breaker, more oil circuit breaker, less oil circuit breaker, sulfur hexafluoride circuit breaker, etc

4. The difference of matching equipment: Generally speaking, compared with the air circuit breaker, the matching equipment of logic and executive part is more complex

Air switch is a kind of switch which will trip as long as there is short circuit.

Circuit breakers are divided into high-voltage circuit breakers and low-voltage circuit breakers according to their application scope. The division of high-voltage and low-voltage boundaries is relatively vague. Generally, those above 3KV are called high-voltage electrical appliances.

Low voltage circuit breaker, also known as automatic switch, is a kind of electrical appliance with manual switch function and automatic voltage loss, undervoltage, overload and short circuit protection. It can be used to distribute electric energy, start asynchronous motor infrequently, protect power line and motor, and cut off the circuit automatically in case of serious overload, short circuit, undervoltage and other faults. Its function is equivalent to the combination of fuse switch and overheating relay. Moreover, it is not necessary to change the parts after breaking the fault current, which has been widely used.
